Spring is not in sight, but we always plan ahead and that means we’re taking soccer registrations in February.

The spring soccer season starts in May and run to mid-June for the younger players (U6 to U10) and to July for the older players (U12 – U18).

Registration takes place at Strathearn Community Hall.

  • Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 pm.

Be sure to bring along the player’s birth certificate, your Community League Membership (available for sale at registration as well) and three cheques – two as deposits and one for fees.

There will be a final, zone-wide registration on Saturday, March 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bonnie Doon Mall, near Tony Roma’s.

Our wonderful winter city

Winter took its time arriving, but Edmontonians are ushering in the season with more festivals and activities than ever!

As Edmontonians, we wear our winter hardiness like a badge of honour, and I have been working on the City of Edmonton’s Winter City Strategy to highlight how we can further embrace winter and step into our role as a leading winter city we can all be proud of.

How do you celebrate Edmonton winters? For the outdoor enthusiasts, both sides of the River Valley are lined with a natural belt of two dozen parks perfect for snowshoeing and snow angels.

There are 97 kilometres of natural and groomed cross-country ski trails as well as downhill ski hills, toboggan hills and picturesque skating rinks. And don’t miss out on the beautiful northern lights in the evenings!

We are also very lucky to enjoy a number of new and returning winter festivals this year, most are free admission:

With the Alberta blue skies and the bright sunlight reflecting off the white snow, get outside with friends and family and soak up some winter fun in Edmonton.
